Authentique ThankFul paper collection meets Prima mix media!

Okay Guys I need to know, How many of you have ever seen or made a Thanksgiving mixed media art journal/mini album? My answer: NEVER until now!

I received my newest DT project and I was super excited because earlier in the day I caught a glimpse of some of the goodies and I was hoping that the new G45 Nutcracker paper line was mine to play with and naturally the wheels started turning as I began to envision what I was going to do with this new material. So the time came to take my box home and there was no G45 Nutcraker paper to be found instead I held in my hand the new Prima 6x6 mix media album and the newest Authentique Thanksgiving paper line. Now don't get me wrong I loved what I was given it just took me by surprise because I couldn't begin to imagine how I would combine them. As a matter of fact earlier that week I was on the Authentique website thinking to myself how fun it would be to play with that exact paper line and just last month I actually almost purchased the new Prima album so its very interesting how this all worked out.

I love details but sometimes I find that one of my biggest challenges is knowing when to "leave it alone and walk away!".  Working on this project allowed me to practice this concept and I was amazed by how fast and easy it was for me to create so many pages in so little time and be done with my project.  I am Thankful that these DT projects keep me on my toes creatively and before I go I want to challenge my readers to try this at home! Make something mix media/Thanksgiving and send me a link or post a photo of what you come up with because I would love to see it.  Here are a few of my favorite pages.

Authentique "Fresh" Vintage Beach Girl Mini Album with Shadow Box

Hey There!

As you can probably imagine I really love paper. One of my favorite paper lines is Authentique, every collection is vintage and fabulous! This summer when they came out with the "Fresh" collection I just had to have it. As I thought about all the things I could do with this paper line I decided I would make a mini album but I also wanted to do something different. I thought about the beach, the sun the water but mostly what summer means to me. Ultimately I was inspired by water and that was when I decided to use transparencies. Just like water the background would be clear and see through creating a "floating" effect once the photos were added. My thought process on this one was slightly out of the box but in the end it came together nicely. Originally this album was meant to become a class so I really tried to keep it simple (you have no idea how difficult that is for me...hahaha). Hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by!

Teresa Collins meets Fotomatr

Hi Everyone!

So Laurie who is the  owner of Scrapbook Island (the store I design for) just came back from CHA  and as always she brought back with her some amazing new products. Soon after her return I received my new DT box full of the Teresa Collins Vintage Finds collection and some of the latest and hottest products by Fotomatr.

First of all, I just wanted to say how awesome this Fotomatr isand for those of you who are unfamiliar with this product it is basically a collection of pockets, inserts and accordion fold inserts made out of a kraft like paper with pre drawn journaling spots and places indicating where your photos should go. You can combine these inserts in a three ring binder also made from the kraft like material. I think its great because it's inexpensive and has extreme potential.

I did a little Google search when I was done with my project to see what others out there have made but I didn't have much luck. That is how new to the market this stuff is! Im blown away by how fast its flying off the shelves over at Scrapbook Island but lucky for you Laurie is great at staying stocked up. I highly suggest you get your hands on some and get crafty. If you do I would love to see what you came up with.  Have a great Wednesday!

Studio Calico Abroad and October Afternoon 9 to 5

One of the joys of doing what I do is that I get to play with new paper lines as they arrive. In the last few months I have had so much fun playing with the newest Studio Calico Abroad collection and the new October Afternoon 9 to5 collection. If you haven't seen these paper collections in person its very much worth the trip to your local scrapbook store!

Studio Calico Abroad

October Afternoon 9 to 5

Okay, its been almost two months since my last post but in my defense....oh, who am I kidding? Life happens but despite everything I made sure to keep myself busy in that wonderful crafty kind of way and as always I'm posting some pics of my latest creations. However, before I do that I also would like to share a little bit of news.

Most of you know that I was on the Design Team for my local Scrapbook store called Scrapbook Island and the design term ended this past April. Naturally I had such a blast that I considered reapplying for the next term but in the end I decided not to (or so I told myself) and at the very last minute I changed my mind and there I was literally on the very last day that I could submit a project putting something so I could submit it and guess what?  I MADE THE TEAM!!! YEAH ME!

So there you have it, another term means a lot more great projects to come and I'm so very excited to see what the future holds for my little crafty world.  Have a good one!

This is the Design Team entry that I submitted for Scrapbook Island

Scrappy Goodness

Hi Everybody,

These last few months have been pretty busy but as you may already know busy never stops me from getting my hands on some scrappy goodness. One of my most recent projects was a commissioned wedding album I made for a friend.  The paper line is one from DCWV and the color scheme is black and white.  I think it turned out nice and my friend was very happy so that makes it all worth it!
